AWRC West

Support for Vulnerable Women and Children

AWRC knew that to be able to combat the devastating rise of addiction in Arizona, that they would need to expand to a second location.

Thanks to a grant for a down payment by Halle Foundation, AWRC found its next home in West Phoenix off of 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Rd.

AWRC will continue to specializes in gender-specific treatment for women, more specifically pregnant and parenting women. This is why the purchase of a property which was previously a daycare and charter school just make sense.

The Arizona Women’s Recovery Center (AWRC), formerly the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, has been helping families break the cycle of addiction for over 60 years in Central Phoenix.

Long ago, being in the center of the city was the way to reach the most people. However, due to rapid growth and heavy traffic, having one location to meet all the needs in Phoenix is no longer a viable solution.

AWRC knew that to be able to combat the devastating rise of addiction, that they would need to expand to a second location.

The new location will provide an ample, safe, and fun space for moms to have a one stop shop for all their substance use and mental health needs. While their children will have a safe outdoor and indoor space to play and heal themselves.

AWRC moves women beyond addiction and towards self- sufficiency. They focus on addiction, trauma, mental and physical health, GED tutoring and job training.

However, this new West location will also offer food boxes and clothing, 12-step and recovery meetings, health fairs, and DUI education classes.

AWRC hopes to be able to offer treatment, information, and referral to anyone in need. AWRC is excited about this expansion and ready to roll up their sleeves to help fight addiction within in their new community.

If you or someone you know is interested in supporting AWRC West, we are in need of both monetary and in kind donations to get our recovery center up and running. We are campaigning to raise $50,000 to renovate the building.

Additionally, we are in need of chairs and tables for our group rooms, office furniture, new and gently used toys, and clothing and food for our clothes and food pantries.
